.:ASTD in the Community

ASTD-Valley of the Sun supports numerous local and national charities on behalf of our members and speakers. This yer we will work with Florence Crittenton.

For more than one hundred years, Florence Crittenton has been helping girls who suffer from abuse, neglect, teen pregnancy and/or mental and behavioral health problems. Girls are referred for services through a variety of sources including Child Protective Services, ValueOptions, the Juvenile Courts and the Indian Nations. The agency provides shelter, clothing, meals, education, counseling, and social support for girls ages 12-21 and enjoys a reputation for innovative programs that focus on the individual needs of each girl. These innovative programs have been extended to boys through our Independent Living Program and Crittenton Academy. Florence Crittenton serves over 1,200 youth annually.

There are many ways to support Florence Crittenton. Shop, donate or volunteer today at our new upscale resale store, Flo’s on 7th, located just north of Indian School on the west side of 7th Avenue. One hundred percent of the store’s proceeds benefit Florence Crittenton’s programs for at-risk youth and families. Our WINGS (Women Involved in Nurturing Girls’ Self-esteem) mentoring program is seeking women from the community who would like to be paired with one of our girls in a fun, nurturing relationship. Monetary donations can also be made anytime on our secure web site at Florence Crittenton and will be allocated to our area of greatest need.

Whether it’s through shopping, donating or volunteering, you can make a difference in the lives of Arizona’s at-risk girls!

A portion of your ASTD-VOS monthly meeting fee goes towards a charity that is chosen by that month's speaker. Here are some of the charities that we have supported in the past:.
